Prachi Valley Heritage- Madhava Temple, Niali

The famous Madhava Temple, dedicated to lord Vishnu is located on the left bank of river Prachi in Niali block of Cuttack district, Orissa. Belongs to 13th century and was built by Eastern Ganga dynasty, this temple is a protected monuments declared by Archaeological Survey of India. The Temple is built in Pancharatha design. Three buildings, namely Vimana, Jagamohana and Natamandapa. The Vimana is of Rekha Deula, Jagamohana is of Pidha deula and the Natamandapa is flat-roofed and renovated by Archaeological Survey of India. The motifs are of different serpents, naayikas, devatas etc. The architecture of this temple is very much similar to that of Sakshigopal Temple of Puri and Ananta Vasudev temple of Bhubaneswar. You can find the images of Dasa-Avatar of Vishnu, a big Sudarshan Chakra made up of Black granite stone and also the image of Ananta Sayana of lord Vishnu in the walls of Jagamohana and Natamandapa. The outer walls of the temple are carved with beautiful old Pauranic images from Krishna Lila & Mahabharata. Some erotic carvings can also be found on the outer wall of the temple.

The presiding deity, Madhava is different to other Madhava images found in entire Prachi Valley . The upper left arm holds Gada, lower left Sudarshana Chakra, upper right full blown Lotus and lower right Conch. In the Jagamohana a rare image of Durga is found. She is worshipped as the sister of Madhava. Many festivals like Janmashtami, Ekadashi and special festivals in Maagha andVaishakha month are observed here. The main attraction here is the very old idol of Garuda which is made of black sand stone. This temple is known as Uncle’s home of Lord Jagannath of Puri and many rituals of the Jagannath Temple is associated with Niali Madhava temple.

Funded by the 13th Financial Commission, Govt. of India, presently, the renovation work of the temple is underway with the help of the INTACH Odisha chapter and the Department of Culture, Govt. of Odisha.

Madhava temple representing ‘Kalingan’ style of architecture belongs to 13th century A.D. requires a very sensitive and sympathetic approach for the conservation work. The necessary consolidation, stabilization work and appropriate development of the immediate surroundings have been going on at a snail’s pace. Prachi Valley Development Forum urges the concerned departments, officials and local politicians to ensure speedy and strong renovation work along with a heritage promotion plan for Prachi Valley Tourism.

மாதவானந்தா கோயில் - பிராச்சி பள்ளத்தாக்கு, ஒடிசா

எனது அடுத்த நிறுத்தம், கட்டாக் மாவட்டத்தின் நியாலி வட்டாரத்தில் உள்ள மாதவா கிராமத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள பிரம்மாண்டமான மாதவானந்தா கோயில் ஆகும். 49 அடி உயரமுள்ள இக்கோயில், பிதா ஜக்மோகனுடன் கூடிய ரேக விமானமாகும். இது கலிங்கப் பாணியிலான தட்டையான கூரையுடைய நாட்டிய மண்டபத்தைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. கிழக்கு நோக்கிய இக்கோயில், 13 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் மத்தியில் கிழக்கு கங்கர்களால் கட்டப்பட்டது. இது ஒரு உயிருள்ள கோயிலாக, மணற்கற்களால் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. இங்குள்ள மூலவர், கருங்கல்லால் ஆன நான்கு கரங்கள் கொண்ட மாதவர் (விஷ்ணு ஸ்வரூபம்) ஆவார். கருங்கல்லால் ஆன கருட மூர்த்தி கண்களுக்கு விருந்தாக அமைகிறது.

மாதவானந்தா கோயிலின் பின்புறத் தோற்றம்

ஜன்மாஷ்டமி, டோல் பூர்ணிமா மற்றும் ராம நவமி ஆகியவை இங்குள்ள முக்கிய பண்டிகைகள். பிற்பகலில் கோயில் வளாகத்தில் உணவு கிடைக்கும், ஆனால் அதற்கு முன் பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும். இக்கோயில் பூரி ஜகந்நாதப் பெருமானின் தாய்மாமனின் வீடு என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. இது ஃபுல் நகாராவிலிருந்து சுமார் 30 கி.மீ தொலைவிலும், சோபனேஸ்வரிலிருந்து 7 கி.மீ தொலைவிலும் அமைந்துள்ளது.
