Temple info -3136 கோயில் தகவல் -3136 Shiroda : Shri Kamakshi Temple BY   KEVINSTANDAGEHOTOGRAPHY   ON   APRIL 11, 2015   •   (  LEAVE A COMMENT  ) Built in the 16th century, the temple of Shri Kamakshi is located amidst hills in the picturesque village of Shiroda, 12km from Ponda and 22km from Margao in south Goa. On arriving at the village, look out for the huge temple gates (Mahadwar) that leads to the temple complex known as a “Sthal”, or more commonly called “Thal”. Once through the gate you descend a flight of stairs and the temple complex opens up before you. The view is dominated by an octagonal two-storied tower, painted in deep yellow and white as much of the rest of the temple is. The curveture of the roofs gave a very subtle hint of influences perhaps from China, although that just might be down to my ignorance of the architectural styles of Goan temples. There’s not a single tourist in sight, I’m not even sure this temple is that freq...

Temple info -1416 கோயில் தகவல் -1416 History About Shree Mahalaxmi Temple, Panaji This Temple is located in the city of Panaji, off Dada Vaidhya road at the Altinho foothill. It was the first Hindu temple allowed to be built by the Portuguese in Goa after 300 years after bitter opposition. It was approved by the Portuguese authorities in 1818 after a long delay and built subsequently on contrubutions made by the devotees. It was most recently renovated in 1983. The deity of the temple originally came from the village of Taleigao and was moved to Bicholim in the 16th century to escape Portuguese destruction. The deity is Goddess Mahalakshmi (the Hindu Goddess of Wealth), made of black stone, with four hands and is placed in a silver canopy. This is the peaceful or Satvik form of Devi. According to the Shakti cult (worship of power), Mahalakshmi is the original Goddess who takes forms according to three aspects or gunas viz. Temple info -462 Devaki Krishna temple,Goa தேவகி க்ருஷ்ணா கோயில்,கோவா

Image
Temple info -462 கோயில் தகவல் -462 Devakikrishna Temple in Goa  This is the only Lord Krishna temple in India where Lord Krishna worshiped along with his birth-mother Devaki. Hence this temple is called 'Devakikrishna' temple. In the center of this temple, Devaki Mata is standing with her beloved child, Balkrishna, on her left side, with a happy face.  Not only in India, but all over the world, where there are temples of Lord Krishna, Lord Krishna is standing alone in the sanctum sanctorum. However, in this temple in Goa Devaki, the birth mother of Lord Krishna, is given more importance than Lord Krishna. This is something we rarely see elsewhere. It is clear from the inscriptions in the temple that the present magnificent and attractive temple of Shri Devakikrishna was built and installed in the year 1832. At present, the idol of Mata Devaki is covered with diamonds, gold and silver ornaments. The mind feels happy when you visit her.  ।। गोव्यातील देवकीकृष्ण मंदिर ...
