 Temple info -872 கோயில் தகவல் -872 Kalyanasundaresar Temple, Nallur  This is one of the Mada Koils (one where an elephant cannot reach the sanctum) built by the famous Chozha king Ko Chenganan, others include Thiruvanaikaval. This temple is located 5 kms east of Papanasam. In the Kumbakonam – Papanasam route, after Sundara Perumal koil, take a diversion at Uthani village for about 2 kms to Nallur.  The main deity is Swayambu linga known as Periyandeswarar, Kalyana Sundarar, Pancha Varneswarar, and Sundara nathar, Soundara Nayakar with Ambal Giri Sundari, Parvatha Sundari Kalyana Sundari, Malaiazhagi, and Vanduvaazh Kuzhali. The miracle of the temple here is the color of the deity changes 5 times a day as copper, light red, molten gold, Emerald and Multicolor for every 2 hours and 20 minutes.  And so the other name is Panchavarneswarar.  Many researches have been done for the color changes, but till now the reason is unknown and could not be found.  Amazing temple info -22 அதிசய கோயில் தகவல்-22 Thirunallur Panchavarneswarar Temple This is one of the rare temples where one can have darshan of the Lord at different times in different colours.  He changes colour every six nazhigais ( one nazhigai= 24 minutes).  It starts at 6 am with copper, then red, then golden colour and then emerald green.  From 3.37 pm to 6 pm, the lingam appears in a colour as desired/perceived by the devotee.  As He changes colour five times, He is also called Panchavarneswarar.  ( There is a similar named Lord in Uraiyur in Trichy).  The change of colour takes place only in the top portion of the Lingam.  The middle portion alternates between shades of green and blue while the bottom portion always remains black.
