She lived with her elder brother, a gruesome demon Hidimba. They both were terrorizing people or the travelers, who passed in that area, by killing them, and eating their flesh. During the time of exile, Pandavas with their mother Kunthi Devi, happen to pass in that direction, and instantly get attacked by Hidimba.
