Presiding Deity is called as Sahasra Lakshmeeswarar and Mother is called as Brihannayaki. The temple is associated with Uthiratadhi Nakshathra and is called as Uthiratadhi Star Temple. Legends Sahasra Lakshmeeswarar: Lord Vishnu was performing Shiva Puja each day with 1000 lotus flowers. When the number was short by one, Lord Vishnu to make up the shortage tried to pluck one of his eyes to offer it Lord Shiva but was prevented by Lord Shiva and granted darshan. Mahalakshmi followed Lord Vishnu with the puja and realized her wish of Shiva darshan. The temple is at an altitude of about 900m in north Wayanad in a valley surrounded by mountains and beautiful forests. It is 32 km away from Manathavady.
