 Temple info -3835 கோயில் தகவல்-3835 Senapathy Sivan Temple, Ariyalur Taluk, Ariyalur District There are two hamlets named Senapathy and Mudikondan located on the Keelapazhuvur-Thirumanur road. Historically, this area was known as 'Vanavichathiranallur' and was granted as a land holding (*kani*) to an official of King Vikrama Chola named Suthamallan Mudikondan—also known as Virutharaja Bhayankara Vanakovaraiyan. Over time, the name 'Vanavichathiranallur' faded away, and the area evolved into two separate hamlets named Senapathy and Mudikondan, derived from the official's name. This official commissioned the construction of a temple named 'Mudikonda Chola Eswaramudaiya Mahadevar' in this village; the actual construction was carried out by a person named Thapasi Poykkudaiyan Thiruchitrambalapichan. The complex of eight temples is situated within a walled enclosure; an additional temple is about  1 kilometre (0.62   mi)  away.
