Palani is most famous for its Lord Subramanya temple, but it also has a shrine dedicated to Murugan’s mother, Parvati Devi. In this temple, she is the most important deity, hence the name “Periya Nayaki Amman Temple”. The main deities are the goddess Periyanayaki and Kailasanathar (shiva) with Lord Murugan in the center. It is located in the city of Palani earlier it was known as Thiruaavinankudi(as mentioned in the old Sangam literature Thirumurugatrupadai), Dindigul district, 100 kilometres (62 mi) southeast of Coimbatore and northwest of Madurai in the foothills of the Palani Hills, Tamil Nadu, India.  Temple info -125 கோயில் தகவல் -125 Thiru Avinankudi Temple, Pazani For most of us Pazani Murugan is Dandayuthapani temple at the top of the Pazani hill. Thiru Avinankudi temple is one of the six abodes (Third) of Lord Muruga who is considered as the Lord of Kurinji (mountain).  The temple got its name from the place it is situated whereas the shrine is called as Kulandai Vēlālyudhaswāmi Temple.  It is believed as the earliest abode of Lord Muruga which began under the shade of ‘Nelli’ (Amla) Tree. This temple is about 200 meters from the foothill of main temple.
