 Due to the fact that Velayudha Murugan Temple, which was worshiped by the Siddhas in the early days and then by the royalty and the nearby villagers, was abandoned over time.  Occupied by anti-social elements.

 That is why this miraculous fountain is also known as Raja Kinaru.  Nearby village elders say that the Nalairathamman temple was also on top of Velayuda hill where four thousand Chola soldiers, the border guards of Rajaraja Chola, worshipped.

ஆதிகாலத்தில் சித்தர்களாலும் அதன்பின் அரசகுலத்தவராலும், அருகாமை கிராம மக்களாலும் வழிபடப்பட்டு வந்த வேலாயுத மலை முருகன் ஆலயம் காலப்போக்கில் கைவிடப்பட்ட காரணத்தால் . சமூக விரோதிகளால் ஆக்ரமிக்கப்பட்டது. 

வேலாயுத மலை குன்றிலிருந்த பாறைகள் உடைக்கப்பட்டு கற்கள் வெட்டப்பட்டு கடத்தப்பட்ட போது ஏற்கனவே இருந்த ஆலயமும் சிதைக்கப்பட்டு, தெய்வ திரு உருவங்களும் திருடு போயின. 

ஆலயம் இருந்த இடத்தையும் வெடி வைத்து தகர்க்க முயன்ற போது திருமுருகன் திருவிளையாடலால் ஏற்பட்ட வெடிவிபத்தில் பத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் பலியாயினர். தப்பிப் பிழைத்தோர் உடைபட்ட பாறையில் வேலும், மயிலும், ஓம் என்னும் பிரணவ மந்திரமும் பொறிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதை பார்த்து பதறி ஓடி, அதன்பின் அந்தப்பக்கமே வருவதில்லை.

குமரக்கடவுளின் வாகனமான மயில்கள் கூட்டம், கூட்டமாக வாழும் வேலாயுத மலைக் குன்றில் வேலும், மயிலும், ஓம்காரமும் செதுக்கப்பட்ட பாறையின் மேல் அழகன் முருகனின் வாகனமான ராஜமயில் அனுதினமும் ஆடி, அகவி மலை அடிவாரத்தில் அமைந்திருக்கும் அம்பாசமுத்திரம் வேலாயுத நகர் மற்றும் என்.ஜி.ஓ காலனியைச் சேர்ந்த ஆன்மீக அன்பர்களை அருகில் அழைத்தது, மயில்களின் தொடர் அழைப்பினால் குன்றின் மேல் ஏறிச்சென்ற பக்தர்களை வழி நடத்திச் சென்ற மயிலானது ஆலயம் இருந்த இடத்தில் தோகை விரித்தாடி குமரனுக்கு கோயில் அமைக்க உத்தரவிட்டது. 

மேலும் குன்றின்மேல் வேல் வடிவத்தில் அமைந்திருந்த அதிசயமான சுனையையும் காட்டி மறைந்தது.

வேலாயுத நகர் மற்றும் என்.ஜி.ஓ காலனியைச் சேர்ந்த பக்தர்கள் அக்கம் பக்கம் கிராமங்களைச் சேர்ந்த பெரியோர்களை சந்தித்து, விசாரித்து அறிந்த தகவல்கள் அனைத்தும் அதிசயமானவை. ஆச்சரியமானவை. 

ஆம் நாலாம்கரம் பொத்தை என்றொரு பெயரும் கொண்ட வேலாயுத மலை மேல் அமைந்துள்ள இந்த சுனையில் எலுமிச்சை பழத்தைப் போட்டால் இயற்கையாக அமைந்த சுரங்கம் வழியாக ஓரிரு மைல் தூரத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள பிரம்மதேசம் திருக்கைலாயநாதர் திருக்கோவில் திருக்குளத்திற்கு வந்து சேருமாம்.

அகில உலகமெல்லாம் ஆண்ட சோழச்சக்கரவர்த்தி ராஜராஜ சோழன் பாண்டிய, சேர நாடுகளை வென்று அம்பாசமுத்திரம் அருகே ராமாயண வாலி வழிபட்ட அயன் திருவாலிஸ்வரருக்கு ஆலயம் அமைத்து பிரம்ம தேசம் ஊரையும் நிர்மாணித்த காலத்தில் வேலாயுத மலை மீது ஏறி அதிசய சுனையை கண்டதாக செவிவழி வரலாறு கூறுகிறது. 

எனவேதான் இந்த அதிசய சுனைக்கு ராஜா கிணறு என்றொரு பெயரும் உண்டாம். ராஜராஜ சோழனின் எல்லைக்காவல் வீர்ர்களான சோழப்படைகள் நான்காயிரம் பேர் வழிபட்ட நாலாயிரத்தம்மன் ஆலயமும் வேலாயுத மலை மேல் இருந்ததாக அருகாமை கிராமப் பெரியவர்கள் கூறுகிறார்கள்.                                       .
