Kumareshwar Temple - Lonar, Buldana

There are many ancient temples in the area of Lonar lake created due to meteor storm. Among them, Kumareshwar temple is considered one of the most important temples. This temple was built during the Rashtrakoot period and it is believed that Yadav Raja has constructed a coastal ban around it.

There is such faith for this temple that Lord Shriram, Sitamata and Lakshman had visited during the forest and they had darshan of Kumareshwar. The pilgrimage of Sitanhani in front of the temple is considered to be the place where Sitamata bathed.

Another beautiful legend of this temple is told. Agasti Rishi had come to this area to reduce the height of Vindhya Mountain. At the same time, two monsters Atapi and Vatapi had created a huge disaster. Agasti sages worshiped Lord Shiva for their killing. Shivshankar was pleased and he killed the demons by wearing the form of Kumar alias Batu. After that, at the request of Agasti Rishi, Bhagwan Shiv sat in sex form. So this Shivlinga got the name Kumareshwar.

This temple located at a distance from Gomukh Dhar or Ganga Bhogavati temple looks like a pyramid when seen from far. Temples of such structures in Maharashtra are very rare. Therefore some researchers call this temple as "Pyramid Temple of Lonar".

Before the main entrance of the temple, there is a rectangular entrance pandal decorated with stone poles. Many beautiful sculptures are carved on these poles. In it the sculpture of Shravan baby taking Kawad on the shoulder attracts special attention.

As soon as you enter the main temple, you can see a huge Nandi statue in the black stone, while on the right side is a Shri Ganesha statue. Some idols and Nandi sculptures from Bhagnavastha can also be seen here.

The temple is divided into four areas such as head pavilion, assembly, space and uterus. The assembly is standing on eight strong stone pillars and there is a square stone in the middle. Dance and music programs are believed to be presented at ancient times.

Beautiful faces are carved on the roof of the Assembly. The idols of Lord Shiva, Indra, Vaman and Bhairav are seen in the branches on the poles. Also beautiful sculptures of seven matrikas are also carved here. Indrani, Kumari and Varahi are specially standing in it.

At the entrance of the womb there are sculptures of Ganga, Yamuna and Dwarpal, while a beautiful sculpture of Shri Ganesha is carved on the lalatbimba. The womb has a huge Shivpindi of Kumareshwar. Locals believe that the hidden water stream flowing through the temple area remains moist throughout the year.

With history, myths, amazing stone sculptures and features like pyramids, Kumareshwar Temple is a must-see ancient temple in the Lonar Sarovar area.

விண்கல் மோதலால் உருவான லோனார் ஏரிப் பகுதியில் பல பழமையான கோயில்கள் உள்ளன. அவற்றில் குமாரேஸ்வர் கோயில் மிக முக்கியமானதாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. இக்கோயில் ராஷ்டிரகூடர் காலத்தில் கட்டப்பட்டது; இதனைச் சுற்றி யாதவ மன்னர் ஒரு பாதுகாப்புச் சுவரை (பிரகாரம்) அமைத்ததாக நம்பப்படுகிறது.

வனவாசத்தின் போது ஸ்ரீராமர், சீதாதேவி மற்றும் லட்சுமணன் ஆகியோர் இங்கு வருகை தந்து குமாரேஸ்வரை வழிபட்டதாக ஒரு நம்பிக்கை நிலவுகிறது. கோயிலுக்கு முன்னால் உள்ள 'சீதா நஹானி' (சீதா குளியல் இடம்) என்ற பகுதி, சீதாதேவி நீராடிய இடமாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது.

இக்கோயில் குறித்து மற்றொரு அழகான புராணக் கதையும் கூறப்படுகிறது. விந்திய மலையின் உயரத்தைக் குறைப்பதற்காக அகஸ்திய முனிவர் இப்பகுதிக்கு வந்திருந்தார். அதே நேரத்தில், அதாபி மற்றும் வதாபி ஆகிய இரு அரக்கர்கள் பெரும் அழிவை ஏற்படுத்திக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். அவர்களை அழிப்பதற்காக அகஸ்திய முனிவர் சிவபெருமானை வழிபட்டார். மகிழ்ந்த சிவபெருமான், 'குமார்' அல்லது 'பட்டு' (சிறுவன்) வடிவம் கொண்டு அந்த அரக்கர்களை அழித்தார். அதன்பிறகு, அகஸ்திய முனிவரின் வேண்டுகோளின்படி, சிவபெருமான் அந்த வடிவத்திலேயே (குமார வடிவில்) அமர்ந்தார். எனவே இந்த சிவலிங்கம் 'குமாரேஸ்வர்' என்ற பெயரைப் பெற்றது.

கோமுக் தார் அல்லது கங்கா போகவதி கோயிலுக்குச் சற்று தொலைவில் அமைந்துள்ள இக்கோயில், தூரத்திலிருந்து பார்க்கும்போது பிரமிட் வடிவில் காட்சியளிக்கிறது. மகாராஷ்டிராவில் இத்தகைய அமைப்பைக் கொண்ட கோயில்கள் மிகவும் அரிதானவை. எனவே, சில ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் இக்கோயிலை "லோனாரின் பிரமிட் கோயில்" என்று அழைக்கின்றனர்.

கோயிலின் பிரதான நுழைவாயிலுக்கு முன்னால், கல் தூண்களால் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட செவ்வக வடிவ நுழைவு மண்டபம் உள்ளது. இத்தூண்களில் பல அழகான சிற்பங்கள் செதுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. அவற்றில், தோளில் 'காவடி' சுமந்து செல்லும் சிரவண குமாரனின் சிற்பம் தனிச்சிறப்பு வாய்ந்தது.

பிரதான கோயிலுக்குள் நுழைந்தவுடன், கருங்கல்லால் ஆன ஒரு பெரிய நந்தி சிலையையும், வலதுபுறத்தில் ஸ்ரீ கணேசர் சிலையையும் காணலாம். சிதிலமடைந்த நிலையில் உள்ள சில சிலைகள் மற்றும் நந்தி சிற்பங்களையும் இங்கே காண முடிகிறது.

இக்கோயில் முகப்பு மண்டபம், சபா மண்டபம், இடைவெளிப் பகுதி மற்றும் கருவறை என நான்கு பகுதிகளாகப் பிரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. சபா மண்டபம் எட்டு உறுதியான கல் தூண்களின் மீது அமைந்துள்ளது; அதன் நடுவில் ஒரு சதுர வடிவக் கல் உள்ளது. பழங்காலத்தில் இங்கு நடனம் மற்றும் இசை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடத்தப்பட்டதாக நம்பப்படுகிறது.
