About 300 years ago, a devout worshipper of Lord Shiva and Lord Murugan named **Vaikundam Pillai** lived in Kallidaikurichi. He made it a practice to travel to Thiruchendur every Friday in a bullock cart to worship Lord Senthil Andavar.

On one occasion, he was unable to continue his journey to Thiruchendur due to a severe storm and heavy rain. While he slept in distress, Lord Murugan appeared in his dream and blessed him, saying, *"Do not worry; My idol lies in the Thamirabarani River at Thiruvalamsuzhi, near Oorkadu. Retrieve it, consecrate it, and worship it; you will receive the full spiritual merit of visiting Thiruchendur."*

It was through this divine revelation that the idol was recovered and the beautiful **Arulmigu Subramania Swamy Temple** was established in Kallidaikurichi!

சுமார் 300 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு, கல்லிடைக்குறிச்சியில் வாழ்ந்த **வைகுண்டம் பிள்ளை** என்ற தீவிர சிவ/முருக பக்தர், பிரதி வெள்ளிக்கிழமையும் வில் வண்டியில் திருச்செந்தூர் சென்று செந்தில் ஆண்டவரை தரிசிப்பதை வழக்கமாகக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.

ஒருமுறை கடும் புயல் மழை காரணமாக அவரால் திருச்செந்தூர் பயணத்தைத் தொடர முடியாமல் போனது. வருத்தத்துடன் உறங்கிய அவர் கனவில் தோன்றிய முருகப்பெருமான், *"கவலை வேண்டாம், ஊர்காடு அருகே உள்ள திருவலம்சுழியில் தாமிரபரணி ஆற்றில் எனது சிலை உள்ளது. அதை எடுத்துப் பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து வழிபடு, திருச்செந்தூர் சென்ற முழு பலனும் உனக்குக் கிடைக்கும்"* என்று அருளினார்.

அவ்வாறு கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்டு, கல்லிடைக்குறிச்சியில் அழகுற அமைக்கப்பட்டதுதான் இந்த அருள்மிகு சுப்பிரமணிய சுவாமி திருக்கோயில்!
