Aruludainathar Temple,Ariyalur District, Senthurai Taluk, 

Thular sivan temple 

Ariyalur district means areas producing cashews, peanuts, and corn, and these areas are located in areas with historical significance. 

As evidence that Thular existed under the Chola rule, the large lake in this village with an area of ​​14 acres is inscribed on its right bank as Rajendra Cholakanpattinam. The town that was called Kattuthular (Thiruthular) is now called Thular. 

Thulav means basil, and Thular means an area rich in basil. 

Thular is 12 km away from Senthurai via Periyakurichi. 

This Shiva temple is a small temple on the east bank of a large lake. 

Lord - Aruludai Nathar Goddess - Anandanayaki 

The Lord is a medium-sized Lingamurthy. The Goddess faces south. Today we see a newly constructed temple. There are small shrines to Lord Vinayagar Murugan in the prakaram. On the main hall, there are shrines to Thiruvalluvar Thirumoolar Vallalar. 

A small temple but there is a big story behind it. 

We can see that the clan name of the Pillamars, who originated this village, begins with Tularudaya... 

There are some hearsay stories about this village. During the Chola period, this village was called Vijayalaya Cholapuram. This Vijayalaya Cholapuram includes the present-day Poomudayankudikadu, Kurichikulam, and Nainarkudikadu. 

There are reports that Rajendra Chola married Anandanayaki from this village, but no historical documents have been found. 

The temple Kotta Muneeswaran is a testament to the existence of a palace here. During the Chola period, a part of the area near the king's residence and the minister's house was called Nayinara. These Nayinaras were the majority of the residents of Vijayalayapuram. 

It is believed that Vijayalayapuram must have been destroyed during the war between the Cholas and the Pandyas, and the people who left the city at that time may have been the residents of the present-day village of Tular.

அரியலூர் மாவட்டம் என்றாலே முந்திரி,நிலக்கடலையும்,சோளமும் அள்ளித்தரும் பகுதிகள்,  வரலாற்று சிறப்புமிக்க முதுமக்கள்தாழியும், கொண்டதாக இப்பகுதிகள் அமைந்துள்ளன. 

சோழமன்னன் ஆட்சியின் கீழ்  துளார்  இருந்தது என்பதற்கு சான்றாக இக்கிராமத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள 14 ஏக்கர் பரப்பளவு கொண்டபெரிய ஏரி அதன் வலதுகரையில் கிடக்கும் கல்வெட்டில் இராஜேந்திரசோழகன்பட்டினம் எனபொறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. காட்டுத்துளார்(திருத்துளார்) என அழைக்கப்பட்ட ஊர் தற்பொழுது துளார் என அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. 

துளவம் என்றால் துளசியை குறிக்கும், துளார் என்பது துளசி நிறைந்த பகுதி என அர்த்தம். 

செந்துறையில் இருந்து  பெரியாகுறிச்சி  வழி வந்தால் 12 கிமி தூரத்தில் உள்ளது இந்த துளார்.

 பெரியதொரு ஏரிக்கரையின் கிழக்கில் சிறிய கோயிலாக உள்ளது இந்த சிவாலயம்.

இறைவன்  நடுத்தர அளவுடைய லிங்கமூர்த்தியாக உள்ளார். இறைவி தெற்கு நோக்கி உள்ளார்.  இன்று நாம் காண்பது புதிதாக அமைக்கப்பட்ட கோயில் .  பிரகாரத்தில் விநாயகர் முருகனுக்கு சிறிய சன்னதிகள் உள்ளன. முகப்பு மண்டபத்தின் மேல் திருவள்ளுவர் திருமூலர் வள்ளலாருக்கு சுதைகள் வைக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளன.  

சிறிய கோயில் ஆனால் இதன் பின்னணியில் பெரும் கதை  ஒன்றுள்ளது. 

இவ்வூரை பிறப்பிடமாக கொண்ட  பிள்ளைமார்களின் கோத்திர பெயரில் துலாருடைய... என ஆரம்பிப்பதை காணலாம்.   

  சில செவிவழி செய்திகள் இவ்வூரை பற்றி உள்ளன.  சோழர் காலத்தில் இந்த கிராமம் விஜயாலய சோழபுரம் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டது. இந்த விஜயாலய சோழபுரம் என்பது இன்றைய பூமுடையான்குடிக்காடு,  குறிச்சிகுளம், நயினார்குடிகாடு, ஆகியவற்றை உள்ளடக்கியது. 

  

ராஜேந்திர சோழன் இந்த கிராமத்தைச் சேர்ந்த அனந்தநாயகியை மணந்ததாக தகவல்கள் உள்ளன, ஆனால் வரலாற்று ஆவணங்கள் எதுவும் கிடைக்கவில்லை. 

கோட்டை முனீஸ்வரன் என கோயில் இங்கு அரண்மனை இருந்ததன் சான்றாக உள்ளது. சோழர் காலத்தில் மன்னரின் குடியிருப்பு மற்றும் மந்திரி இல்லத்திற்கு அருகில் இருந்த ஒரு பகுதியினர் நயினார்கள் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டனர். இந்த நயினார்களே விஜயாலயபுரத்தின் பெரும்பான்மையான குடியிருப்பாளர்கள் . 

சோழர்களுக்கும் பாண்டியர்களுக்கும் இடையிலான போரில் இந்த விஜயாலயபுரம் அழிக்கப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டும் என்றும், அந்த நேரத்தில் நகரத்தை விட்டு வெளியேறிய மக்கள் தற்போதைய துளார் கிராமத்தின் குடியிருப்பாளர்களாக இருக்கலாம் என்றும் தெரிகிறது.
