🚩 "Melapparangiri" equal to Thiruparankundram: The glory of Peraiyur Murugan! 🚩

There is no dearth of places of spiritual significance in the land of Madurai. The most important of them, but a wonderful place that many do not know about, is the Peraiyur Arulmigu Subramania Swamy Temple near D. Kallupatti.

Just as Thiruparankundram is called 'Parangiri', this place, located in the west direction, is revered as 'Melapparangiri'.

This temple is a confluence of architecture!

The sanctum sanctorum: Reflects the intricate architecture of the Chola period.

Halls: The Maha Mandapam and the Artha Mandapam are built in the majestic style of the Nayak period.

Nakshatra Mandapam: This is the greatest artistic treasure of this temple. On the canopy (roof) of the peacock hall, a list of stones representing all 27 stars is beautifully carved. This is a must-see place for those interested in astrology.

⛰️ Scenic location:

The temple is located at the foot of the towering Mottai mountain, surrounded by lush green trees. Lord Shiva resides in a separate shrine at the top of the mountain and bestows his blessings. With Murugan at the base and Shiva at the top, this place explains the 'Shiva-Subramaniam' philosophy.

✨ Miraculous features:

Suyambu Vel: Legend has it that Lord Murugan appeared to Zamindar Thumbichi Nayak in the form of a Vel. Even today, decorated Vels are installed at that place, guarded by Nagas on both sides, and poojas are performed in a very grand manner.

Everlasting Water: On the southern slope of the temple, there is a holy water tank called 'Saravana Poigai'. Surprisingly, it is filled with water throughout the year without drying up.

மண்டபங்கள்: மகா மண்டபம் மற்றும் அர்த்த மண்டபம் ஆகியவை நாயக்கர் காலத்து கம்பீரமான பாணியில் அமைந்துள்ளன.

ஓங்கி உயர்ந்த மொட்டை மலையின் அடிவாரத்தில், பசுமையான மரங்கள் சூழ இக்கோயில் அமைந்துள்ளது. மலையின் உச்சியில் தனிச் சன்னதியில் சிவபெருமான் வீற்றிருந்து அருள்பாலிக்கிறார். அடிவாரத்தில் முருகன், உச்சியில் சிவன் என இத்தலம் 'சிவ-சுப்பிரமணிய' தத்துவத்தை விளக்குகிறது.
