The name "Panchalingeshwara" literally means "five linga" (pancha - five and linga - the universal symbol of the god Shiva). The temple is protected as a monument of national importance by the Archaeological Survey of India.[1] The famous sculptor of Hoysala times, Ruvari Mallitamma, is known to have made contributions to the temple.  Temple info -1587 கோயில் தகவல் -1587 Thandikudi Balamurugan Temple Thandikudi Balamurugan temple:   Though many of us have visited Kodaikanal, the beautiful Hill station in Dindigul District, not many might have seen Thandikudi.  This village is around 45 Kms from Batlakundu and 38 Kms from Kodaikanal.  One has to travel through the Ghat road with 23 hairpin bends.  The old name of the village is Thandrikudi and it is believed to be in existence for over 3500 years.
