#DharumapureeswararTemple

The Dharumapureeswarar Temple—dedicated to Lord Dharumapureeswarar and His consort, Goddess Dharmasamvardhini—is located in Dharumanallur, within the Virudhachalam Taluk of Cuddalore District. It is situated to the west of Chidambaram town.

A unique feature of this temple is that the names of the holy site, the presiding deity (Lord Shiva), and the Goddess all share the root word "Dharma."

It is said that this *Linga* (the sacred icon of Shiva) was worshipped by Dharma (Yudhisthira), who overcame adversaries—who had committed grave wrongs—through his own righteous conduct. The *Linga* is believed to date back to the *Dvapara Yuga*.

Legend holds that the five Pandavas stayed in this region during their forest exile. During this time, Dharma created a *Linga* out of sand and worshipped it. Once, when rain clouds gathered, he sprinkled the water used for worship in a circle around himself; consequently, it did not rain at that moment. It is said that the rain fell only after the worship concluded.

A miraculous event occurred here in the last century. Kanchi Maha Periyava (Chandrasekharendra Swamigal) stayed at the temple for three days.

At a time when rains had failed in Dharumanallur, the locals asked Maha Periyava for guidance. He instructed them to build a mud wall around the temple's Nandi statue and fill the enclosure with water until the statue was submerged. When they did so, the wall collapsed, and clouds gathered to bring rain—a miracle that took place in the *Kali Yuga*.

A statue of Dharma is present here. A shrine to Sri Saneeswarar is located to the left of the Maha Mandapam entrance. Shrines for Lord Vinayaga and Naga deities are also found here. There is a beautifully crafted, ancient statue of Chandikeswarar. A statue of Thirugnanasambandar can also be seen.

The temple's *Vimana* (tower over the sanctum) features a *Gajaprishta* (elephant-back) style structure resting upon a rectangular base.

#தருமபுரீஸ்வரர்கோயில்

                தர்மசம்வர்த்தினி உடனுறை தருமபுரீஸ்வரர் திருக்கோயில் அமைந்துள்ள  தருமநல்லூர் விருதாச்சலம் வட்டம், கடலூர் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ளது. சிதம்பரம் நகருக்கு மேற்கே அமைந்துள்ளது.

                

             இத்தலத்து பெயர், இங்குள்ள ஈசன் பெயர், அம்பாள் பெயர் மூன்றும் தருமம் என்று வருவது இத்தலத்தின் முதல் சிறப்பு.

          " மிகுதியால் மிக்கவை செய்த மாற்றாரை தம் தகுதியில் வென்ற தருமரால் பூஜிக்கப் பட்டது இந்த இலிங்கத் திருமேனி என்றுக் கூறுகின்றனர். இது துவாபர யுகத்திலிருந்து இருப்பதாக நம்பப் படுகிறது.

      

            பஞ்ச பாண்டவர்களின் வனவாசக் காலத்தில் இந்தப் பகுதியில் தங்கியிருந்ததாகவும் , அப்பொழுது தருமர் மணலால் இலிங்கம் செய்து வழிப்பட்டார் . ஒரு முறை மழை மேகங்கள் வந்ததால் தான் வணங்கிய நீரை தன்னை சுற்றி சுழற்றி தெளித்தார் அதனால் அங்கு மழை பெய்யவில்லை. பூஜை முடிந்ததும் மழை பெய்ததாகக் கூறுகிறார்கள்.

           சென்ற நூற்றாண்டில் ஓர் அதிசயம் நடந்தது. காஞ்சி மகாப் பெரியவா சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சுவாமிகள் 3 நாட்கள் இங்கு தங்கியிருந்தார்கள்.

            தருமநல்லூரில் மழைப் பொய்த்தது .மக்கள் மகாப் பெரியவாவிடம்  என்ன செய்வது என்று வினவ. அவர் சிவாலய நந்தியைச்  சுற்றி சேற்றினால் சுவர் எழுப்பி மூழ்கும் அளவுக்கு நீரை ஊற்றுமாறுக் கூறினார். அவ்வாறு செய்ய சுவர் பெயர்ந்து விழவும், மேகம் திரண்டு மழைப் பொழிந்தது. கலியில் நடந்த அற்புதம். 

          தருமரின் சிலை உள்ளது. ஸ்ரீ சனீஸ்வரர் மகா மண்டபம் நுழை வாயில் இடதுபுறம் உள்ளது. விநாயகரும் நாகரும் உள்ளனர். பழமையான சண்டிகேஸ்வரர் சிலை அழகுற அமைந்துள்ளது. ஒருநாளில் திருஞானசம்பந்தரின் சிலையைக் காணலாம்.

 

            இங்குள்ள விமானம் நீள்சதுர பித்தியின் மேல் கஜபிருஷ்ட சிகர அமைப்பைக் கொண்டு விளங்குகிறது
