SRI VAITHEESWARAR TEMPLE - CHINTHAMANI NALLUR:

Nestled in the quiet village of Chinthamani Nallur in the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu, this architecturally stunning Shiva temple stands as a testament to the heights of later Chola craftsmanship. 

Inscriptions reveal that the primary deity (Moolavar) was originally named ‘Kulothunga Chozheeswaramudaiya Mahadevar’, consecrated by Vikrama Chola in honor of his father, Kulothunga Chola-I.

The name of the village, 'Chinthamani', traces back to Kulothunga Chola-I’s queen, Madhurantaki, who carried the royal title ‘Dheena Chintamani’. Over the centuries, the village came to be known as Chinthamani Nallur.

Devotees who prayed to this temple’s Shiva Lingam experienced miraculous recoveries from various ailments. Because of its reputation for curing diseases, the deity came to be revered as Vaitheeswarar (the Lord of Healing).

NICHE DEITIES(Koshta Murthis): The walls feature exquisite carvings of  Vinayakar, Dakshinamurti, Lingodhbhavar, Brahma, and Durga, Urdhva Tandava Murthi, Uma Sahita Murti (Shiva with Parvati), Bhikshatanar and Kala Bhairavar.

The southern stone walls of the Maha-mandapam preserve Vikrama Chola's royal inscriptions. These ancient texts primarily record donations made to maintain perpetual lamps (Nandhavilakku) inside the complex.

ஸ்ரீ வைத்தீஸ்வரர் கோவில் - சிந்தாமணி நல்லூர்:

தமிழ்நாட்டின் விழுப்புரம் மாவட்டத்தில் உள்ள அமைதியான கிராமமான சிந்தாமணி நல்லூரில் அமைந்துள்ள இந்த கட்டிடக்கலை பிரமிக்க வைக்கும் சிவன் கோவில் பிற்கால சோழர்களின் கைவினைத்திறனின் உயரத்திற்கு சான்றாக உள்ளது. 

முதன்மைக் கடவுளான (மூலவர்) முதலில் ‘குலோத்துங்க சோழீஸ்வரமுடைய மகாதேவர்’ என்று பெயரிடப்பட்டதை கல்வெட்டுகள் வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றன, இது விக்ரம சோழனால் தனது தந்தையான குலோத்துங்க சோழன்-I இன் நினைவாக பிரதிஷ்டை செய்யப்பட்டது.

கிராமத்தின் பெயர், 'சிந்தாமணி', முதல் குலோத்துங்க சோழனின் ராணி மதுராந்தகி, 'தீன சிந்தாமணி' என்ற அரச பட்டத்தை தாங்கியவர். பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக, இந்த கிராமம் சிந்தாமணி நல்லூர் என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டது.

இந்த கோவிலில் உள்ள சிவலிங்கத்தை வழிபட்ட பக்தர்கள் பல்வேறு நோய்களில் இருந்து மீண்டு அதிசயம் அடைந்தனர். நோய்களைக் குணப்படுத்துவதில் புகழ் பெற்றதால், தெய்வம் வைத்தீஸ்வரர் (குணப்படுத்தும் இறைவன்) என்று போற்றப்படுகிறது.

சிறப்பு தெய்வங்கள் (கோஷ்ட மூர்த்திகள்): சுவர்களில் விநாயகர், தட்சிணாமூர்த்தி, லிங்கோத்பவர், பிரம்மா மற்றும் துர்க்கை, ஊர்த்துவ தாண்டவ மூர்த்தி, உமா சஹிதா மூர்த்தி (பார்வதியுடன் கூடிய சிவன்), பிக்ஷாடனர் மற்றும் கால பைரவர் ஆகியோரின் அழகிய சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளன.

மகாமண்டபத்தின் தெற்கு கல் சுவர்கள் விக்ரம சோழனின் அரச கல்வெட்டுகளைப் பாதுகாக்கின்றன. இந்த பழங்கால நூல்கள் முதன்மையாக வளாகத்திற்குள் நிரந்தர விளக்குகளை (நந்தவிளக்கு) பராமரிக்க வழங்கப்பட்ட நன்கொடைகளை பதிவு செய்கின்றன.
