This Sun temple is located on a hill called Surya Pahar in Goalpara, near Guwahati in Assam.

The temple focuses on Sri Surya Hill, which is full of Shiva Lingams. Since Sri Surya Pahar is very close to the Brahmaputra riverbank, it has been considered an important center since the past. The popular belief here is that 99999 Shiva Lingams were inscribed by Sri Vyasa as the second Kashi and it is one of the pilgrimage sites of this region.
