This is one of the Shiva & Vishnu temples constructed during the 13th century by Kongu Chozha King Veera Rajendran (1207 CE to 1256 CE) on the banks of the river Amaravathi to get rid of the Kiraka dosha (a Solar eclipse happened on his birthday).

This temple faces east with a mottai gopuram & an entrance arch on the south side. Dwajasthambam, balipeedam, and Rishabam are immediately after the entrance arch.
In the outer prakaram sannadhi for Vinayagar, Agnisar, Chandikeswarar, Kala Bairavar, Navagrahas, Shanieswarar, Suryan, and Naalvar.
Amman is in a separate temple facing the same direction as Moolavar. A Thavvai panel is installed in front of the Ambal temple. Sabha mandapam is at an elevated level with steps to climb.
ARCHITECTURE
The temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, antarala, artha mandapam, and a mukha mandapam. In the sanctum koshtam, Dakshinamurthy and Durgai.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
The 13th-century inscriptions are found around the sanctum walls, the kumudam, and the sabha mandapam adhistanam kumudam also. The inscriptions mainly record the donations given to the temples.

The temple will be kept open from 07.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs, and from 16.00 hrs to 20.00 hrs
HOW TO REACH:
Kolumam is about 20 km from Udumalpet, and the bus is available from Udumalpet.
The nearest Railway Station is Udumalpet.

13 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் கொங்கு சோழ மன்னர் வீர ராஜேந்திரனால் (கி.பி 1207 முதல் கி.பி 1256 வரை) அமராவதி நதிக்கரையில் கிரக தோஷத்தைப் போக்க (அவரது பிறந்தநாளில் ஏற்பட்ட சூரிய கிரகணம்) கட்டப்பட்ட சிவன் மற்றும் விஷ்ணு கோயில்களில் இதுவும் ஒன்றாகும் .

இந்தக் கோயில் கிழக்கு நோக்கி மொட்டை கோபுரத்தையும் தெற்குப் பக்கத்தில் ஒரு நுழைவாயில் வளைவையும் கொண்டுள்ளது. நுழைவாயில் வளைவுக்குப் பிறகு துவஜஸ்தம்பம், பலிபீடம் மற்றும் ரிஷபம் ஆகியவை உள்ளன.
வெளிப் பிரகாரத்தில் விநாயகர், அக்னிசர், சண்டிகேஸ்வரர், கால பைரவர், நவகிரகங்கள், சனீஸ்வரர், சூரியன், நால்வர் சன்னதியில் உள்ளனர்.
மூலவர் இருக்கும் திசையை நோக்கி அம்மன் தனி கோவிலில் இருக்கிறார். அம்பாள் கோவிலுக்கு முன்னால் ஒரு தவவைப் பலகை நிறுவப்பட்டுள்ளது. சபா மண்டபம் உயரமான இடத்தில் உள்ளது, அதில் ஏற படிகள் உள்ளன.
கட்டிடக்கலை
கோயில் கருவறை, அந்தரளம், அர்த்த மண்டபம் மற்றும் முக மண்டபம் ஆகியவற்றைக் கொண்டுள்ளது. கருவறை கோஷ்டத்தில் தட்சிணாமூர்த்தி மற்றும் துர்க்கை.
வரலாறு மற்றும் கல்வெட்டுகள்13 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் கல்வெட்டுகள் கருவறைச் சுவர்கள், குமுதம் மற்றும் சபா மண்டபம் அதிஸ்தானம் குமுதம் ஆகியவற்றைச் சுற்றி காணப்படுகின்றன. கல்வெட்டுகள் முக்கியமாக கோயில்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட நன்கொடைகளைப் பதிவு செய்கின்றன.
