Sri Etteluthuperumal Dharmapathi Temple /Ettezhuthu Perumal Kovil, and Sri Etteluthuperumal Gaushala, Sri Krishna Temple, Arugankulam Melur, Tirunelveli District, Tamil Nadu.
This Etteluthuperumal Dharmapathi temple is on the banks of the Thamirabarani River and is also called Dharmapathi. This is also a Siddhar Peedam.

Ettezhuthu Perumal Temple...
The Etteluthuperumal Temple faces east with a 5-tier Rajagopuram. Anjaneyar is in a round immediately after the Rajagopuram. Ashta Lakshmis are on top of the Anjaneyar shrine. In the sanctum sanctorum, Ramar as Maha Vishnu, is in a standing posture with 4 hands, while the upper hands hold Shankha and Chakra, the lower hands are in Abhaya varada hastam (Etteluthuperumal was made out of Sandalwood). Lakshmana and Sita are on both sides of the entrance to the sanctum sanctorum. Sita is in a sitting posture as Maha Lakshmi. Bas reliefs of Ramanuja and Maha Vishnu’s 10 avatars are around the sanctum sanctorum.
In the praharam, Bhardakali, Vinayagar, and 5 Madan Swamigal are like oblique on the back side of the temple.
Sri Etteluthuperumal Gaushala & Krishna Temple...
This Gaushala Krishna temple is about 500 meters from the Etteluthuperumal Temple. The Gaushala faces south with an entrance arch. A stucco image of Krishna with a Cow is on the arch. In the sanctum, Krishna is a cow, and the Utsava idol is in front of Moolavar. On both sides of the Shrine, cows are tied.
ARCHITECTURE
Etteluthuperumal temple consists of the sanctum sanctorum, ardha mandapam, and open mukha mandapam. The total temple was constructed with brick and cement concrete. A 3-tier stucco nagara vimanam is on the sanctum sanctorum.
HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS
Sri Etteluthuperumal Gaushala & Krishna Temple…
The Gaushala and Krishna temples were established on 14th January 2006.
The 2008 inscription records the major donors, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Maha Swamigal, Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamasthanam, and Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetam Sringeri, Karnataka. This is the only place where a Temple is in a Gaushala.

The Etteluthuperumal Temple…
The original temple is 120 years old. Temple is continuing its renovation activities during our visit. The Rajagopuram was constructed in recent years. The temple may belong to the 21st century. The temple activities are being maintained by DHARMAPATHI SRI ETTALUTHUPERUMAL DHARMASTHAPANA ARAKKATTALAI, a charitable trust, since 2004.
As per the temple’s website, Mayandi Siddhar was instrumental in the construction of this temple. He was born on 18th Ani month, 1891 CE, in Arugankulam. He went to Vallanadu Hills, where he did dhyana and didn’t return for many years. One night, Ramar came in his dream and revealed that he did tharpan to Jadayu at Arugankulam, which is on the banks of the Thamirabarani River, and to rest. Also, Ramar asked the Mayandi Siddhar to construct a temple, where he took rest. As instructed, Mayandi Siddhar returned to Arugankulam and constructed this temple and named Etteluthuperumal – Om Namo Narayana – ஒம் நமோ நாராயணா (8 letters). Moolavar Etteluthuperumal was made out of sandalwood.

LEGENDS
It is believed that Maha Vishnu, as Etteluthuperumal, is vara prasathi. Devotees worship for a child boon and Puthra kameshti yagna on Vinayagar Chaturthi day, Thirupoottu Yagna for marriages, and Vidhya Lakshmi yagna for School Students.
POOJAS AND CELEBRATIONS
Apart from regular poojas, special poojas are conducted on Ramar Jayanthi, Krishnar Jayanthi (Krishna kalaya Prasad), Hanuman Jayanthi, Uriyadi Thiruvizha on September 1st, and Fridays at Bhadrakali temples.

The temple will be kept open from 06.00 hrs to 12.30 hrs and from 18.00 hrs to 20.30 hrs. Friday, from 06.00 hrs to 20.30 hrs.

HOW TO REACH
The Etteluthuperumal Temple at Arugankulam is 7 km from Nellaiappar Temple, 7 km from Thalaiyuthu Railway station, 8 km from Tirunelveli Junction, 9 km from Tirunelveli New Bus Stand, 54 km from Thoothukudi, 57 km from Tenkasi, and 166 km from Madurai.
The nearest Railway Station is Thalaiyuthu, and the Junction is Tirunelveli.
