When I went to visit the Oonreeeswarar temple, the place where the Poondi Thevaram song was sung, I asked an Ammaiyar who was doing charity work at the temple if there was any other temple nearby. To that, that Ammaiyar told me about this temple and I started my journey towards this temple.

After passing the bus stand of Poondi village, a road went on the right side and if you travel through it for about 8 km, you can reach this village. It is a small road surrounded by fields and trees all the way. The cold wind on my body was very cool to my eyes and I was delighted.

I went near the village and inquired about the people there and went towards the place where the temple is located. Since the place where the temple is located is near the cemetery, the path leading to it was a very small path.

 This temple was built on a small mound of earth, white in color like the heart of Jesus, surrounded by nature.

The entrance gate faces south. On the upper part of the entrance gate, there are statues of Jesus, Mother, Vinayagar, and Murugar. There is a mandapam in the inner part of the temple. If you go inside, there is a mandapam on both sides of the sanctum sanctorum in the front mandapam. The sanctum sanctorum with a vimana, in the sanctum sanctorum, Lord Mantheeswarar blesses towards the east. He is a swayambu lingam. He has a cut scar on his head. He is slightly leaning towards the north. It is said that Manthi, the son of Lord Shaniswara, came and worshiped him and that is why he got the name Mantheeswarar.

This temple is known as a place for the cure of Manthi Dosha. Manthi is associated with the planet Saturn.  Astrologers say that Shani is the son of Lord Shani and a subordinate planet of Shani.

It is believed that if you light 27 star lamps and worship them every Saturday morning from 6.00 am to 7.00 am while bathing in this temple as a remedy for the Manthi Dosha, the dosha will be removed. The ready emerald is facing south.

There are no inscriptions in this ancient temple to know which period it belongs to. When you go around the temple, the sanctum sanctorum is a vimana with Hindu stages, and the idol of Saraswati is placed in the vimana. There are no idols of the Lord in the koshtam. If you go around it, there is an altar in front of it, and Nandi is in the mandapam.

There are Ramayana sculptures on the pillars in the temple and sculptures of Anjaneya and Narasimha are also on those pillars.

நான் பூண்டி தேவார பாடல் பெற்ற தலமான  ஊன்றீஸ்வரர் கோயிலை தரிசிக்க சென்றபோது , அக்கோயிலில் தொண்டு புரிந்துகொண்டிருந்த ஒரு அம்மையாரிடம் வேறு எதாவது அருகில் கோயில் உள்ளதா ? என்று வினவினேன் , அதற்கு அவ் அம்மையார் இக்கோயிலை பற்றி சொன்னார்கள் நானும் இக்கோயிலை நோக்கி எனது பயணத்தை தொடங்கினேன் .

பூண்டி ஊரின் பேருந்து நிலையத்தை தாண்டி வலது புறம் ஒரு சாலை சென்றது அதன் வழியாக சுமார் ஒரு 8 km  தொலைவில் பயணித்தால் இவ்வூரை அடையலாம் . வழியெங்கும் வயல்களும் மரங்களும் சூழ்ந்த சிறிய பாதையாக உள்ளது . கண்களுக்கு மிக குளிர்ச்சியாக உடல் மீது குளிர்ந்த காற்று பட்டு என்னை பரவசப்படுத்தியது .

ஊரின் அருகே சென்று அங்கு உள்ளவர்களிடம் விசாரித்து  கோயில் உள்ள இடத்தை நோக்கி சென்றேன் . கோயில் அமைந்துள்ள இடம் இடுகாட்டுக்கு அருகில் உள்ளதால் போகும் வழியே மிக சிறிய பாதையாக இருந்தது .

ஒரு சிறிய  மண்மேட்டின் மீது ஈசனின் மனம் போல் வெள்ளை நிறத்தில் இக்கோயில் தனியாக சுற்றி இயற்கை சூழ்ந்து இருந்தது .

தெற்கு  நோக்கி நுழைவு வாயில் உள்ளது . நுழைவவு வாயிலின் மேல் பகுதியில் ஈசன் ,தாயார் மற்றும் விநாயகர், முருகர் ஆகியோர்களுக்கு சிலை உள்ளது . கோயிலின் உள் பகுதியில் மண்டபம் உள்ளது . அதன் உள் பகுதியில் சென்றால் முன்மண்டபத்தில் கருவறையின் இரண்டு பக்கமும் விநாயகர் உள்ளார். விமானதோடு கூடிய கருவறை , கருவறையில் இறைவன் மாந்தீஸ்வரர் கிழக்கு நோக்கி அருள்பாலிக்கிறார் . இவர் ஒரு சுயம்பு லிங்கம் ஆகும் . இவர் தலையில் வெட்டுப்பட்ட தழும்பு உள்ளது . இவர் சிறிது வடக்கு புறமாக சாய்ந்த நிலையில் உள்ளார் . இவரை சனீஸ்வர பகவானின் புதல்வன்  மாந்தி வந்து பூஜை செய்ததாகவும் அதனாலேயே இவருக்கு மாந்தீசவரர் என்று பெயர் ஏற்பட்டதாகவும் கூறுகின்றனர் .

இக்கோயிலானது மாந்தி தோஷ பரிகார தலமாக விளங்குகிறது . மாந்தி கிரகம் என்பது சனி கிரகத்துடன் தொடர்புடையதாகவும். சனி பகவானின் மைந்தன் என்றும், சனியின் உப கிரகம் என்றும் ஜோதிடர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர்.

இக்கோயிலில் ஒவ்வொரு சனிக்கிழமை அன்றும் காலை 6 .00 மணி முதல் 7 .00 மணி வரை குளிக்கையில் மாந்தி தோஷ பரிகாரமாக 27 நட்சத்திர விளக்கு ஏற்றி வணங்கினால் தோஷம் நீங்கும் என்று நம்பப்படுகிறது . தயார் மரகதாம்பிகை தெற்கு நோக்கி காட்சி தருகிறார் .

பழமையான இக்கோயிலில் எந்த காலத்தை சார்ந்தது என்று அறிய கல்வெட்டுகள் இல்லை.  கோயிலை வலம் வரும்போது கருவறை விமானம் இந்து நிலைகளை கொண்ட விமானமாக உள்ளது , விமானத்தில் சரஸ்வதி சிலையை வைத்துள்ளார்கள். கோஷ்டத்தில் இறைவனின் சிலைகள் இல்லை . அப்படியே வலம் வந்தால் பலிபீடம் உள்ளது அதன் முன் நந்தி மண்டபத்தில் உள்ளார் .

கோயிலில் உள்ள தூண்களில் ராமாயண சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளன மற்றும் ஆஞ்சநேயர் ,நரசிம்மர் ஆகியோர் சிற்பங்களும் அத் தூண்களில் உள்ளன .

செல்லும் வழி :

திருவள்ளூரில் இருந்து ஊத்துகோட்டை செல்லும் பாதையில் நெய்வேலி சந்திப்பு வரும் அதில் இருந்து இடதுபுறம் சென்றால் பூண்டி வரும் அங்கிருந்து சுமார் 8 km தொலைவில் சென்றால் இக்கோயிலை அடையலாம் .
