*This is one of the 108 Shiva temples built by the Chola dynasty in the Chola region, a temple special like Thirukkadaiyur.*

*General information:*

*The main deity Kailasanathar is worshipped in a separate shrine with a kalasham facing west, and the mother is worshipped in a separate shrine with a kalasham facing south. There is a wide pond to the west. There are four pillars in the Maha Mandapam. Venkatajalapathi Alamelu Ammal is worshipped in the Maha Mandapam facing east. There is space for 100 people to sit and have darshan.  Outside, Siddhivinayagar, Subramaniar, Valli and Deivanai are enshrined in separate sanctuaries with a kalasham each, and Dakshinamoorthy and Chandikeswarar are enshrined in the south. The construction of a five-tiered Rajagopuram and a circular wall is underway with an entrance gate on the south side. *

*This temple is one of the Shiva temples built during the Chola period. Those who could not go to Thirukadaiyur came here.  Also, those who visit Thirukkadaiyur come and visit the Swami because it is a temple on the way. *

*History of the temple :*

*This village is located 13 km west of Thiruvaruk, the headquarter of the Saiva religion of Cholavalanad. This is one of the 108 Shiva temples built by the Chola kings in this area. This thousand-year-old temple was found to be in disrepair and was found to be in ruins. The people of the area collected taxes in the past 1960 and renovated the temple and installed new idols. Kumbabhishekam is held once every 12 years. The temple is maintained by the efforts of Vaidyanathan Iyer, a resident of the area, and the work of constructing a five-tiered Rajagopuram and a perimeter wall is underway at his own expense.  In 1996, when a pit was dug to build a wall for the temple's sanctum sanctorum for maintenance work, five gold idols of Sammandar and Yoga Shakti Amman were found and are currently kept in the Chennai Museum. It is said that the idols date back to the eighth century. In Vanchiyam, Appar Adigal has also sung about this temple as a place of worship.  Devotees who have migrated from this area to other states and countries come here to worship the Lord on important special days.*

*மேற்குப்பக்கம் பார்த்த வகையில் ஒரு கலசத்துடன் கூடிய தனி சன்னதியில் மூலவரான கயிலாச நாதரும், தாயார் ஒரு கலசத்து டன் கூடிய தனி சன்னதியில் தெற்கு பக்கம் பார்த்த வகையில் அருள்பாலிக்கின்றனர். மேற்கே பரந்த குளம் உள்ளது. மகா மண்டபத்தில் நான்கு தூன்கள் உள்ளது. மகா மண்டபத்தில் கிழக்குப் பக்கம் பார்த்த வகையில் வெங்கடாஜலபதி அலமேலு அம்மாள் அருள்பாலிக்கின்றனர். 100 பேர் அமர்ந்து தரிசனம் செய்யும் வகையில் இட வசதி உள்ளது. வெளியில் சித்திவினாயகர், சுப்ரமணியர் வள்ளி தெய்வானையுடன் தனித் தனியாக தலா ஒரு கலசம்கூடிய தனி சன்னதியிலும், தட்சிணாமூர்த்தி, சண்டிகேஸ்வரர் தெற்கிலும் அருள்பாலிக்கின்றனர் தெற்கு பக்கம் நுழைவு வாயிலைக் கொண்டு ஐந்து நிலை ராஜகோபுரம் மற்றும் சுற்று மதிற்சுவர் கட்டும்பணி நடந்து வருகிறது.*

*ஆயுள் விருத்தி, நாகதோஷம், புத்திரர் பாக்கியம் மற்றும் திருமணத்தடை, திருக்கடையூர் போன்று சஷ்டி பூர்த்தியும் நடக்கிறது. சகல ஐஸ்வர்யங்களுக்கும், வியாதிதார்களும் நேரில் வந்து பிரார்த்தனை செய்கின்றனர்.*

*சோழர்காலத்தில் கட்டப்பட்ட சிவத்தலங்களில் இக் கோயிலும் ஒன்று. திருக்கடையூர்செல்லமுடியாதவர்கள் இங்கு வந்து செல்கி ன்றனர். மேலும் திருக்கடையூர் சென்று வருவர்களும் வழியில் உள்ள கோயில் என்பதால் வந்து சுவாமியை தரிசனம் செய்கின்றனர்.*

*தல வரலாறு :*

*சோழவளநாட்டின் சைவ சமயத்தின் தலைமை பீடமான திருவாரூக்கும் மேற்கே 13 கி.மீ. தொலைவில் இக்கிராமம் அமைந்துள்ளது. இப்பகுதியில் சோழ மன்னர்கள் கட்டிய சிவத்தலங்கள் 108ல் இதுவும் ஒன்று, ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான இக்கோயில் பழுதடைந்து முட்புதற்கள் மண்டி காணப்பட்டது. அப்பகுதி யினர் கடந்த 1960ம் ஆண்டு வரி வசூல் செய்து கோயிலை புதுப்பித்து புதிய விக்ரஹங்கள் பிரதிஷ்ட்டை செய்துள்ளனர். 12 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒருமுறை கும்பாபிஷேகம் நடந்து வருகிறது அப்பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த வைத்தியநாதன் ஐயர் முயற்சியால் கோயில் பராமரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது மேலும் அவர் சொந்த செலவில் ஐந்து நிலை ராஜகோபுரம் மற்றும் சுற்றுமதிற்சுவர் அமைக்கும் பணி நடந்து வருகிறது. 1996ம் ஆண்டு கோயில் குடமுழுக்கிற்கு பராமரிப்பு பணிக்காக சுவர் அமைக்க பள்ளம் தோண்டிய போது சம்மந்தர் மற்றும் யோக சக்தியம்மன் ஐம் பொன் விக்ரங்கள் கிடைக்கப்பெற்று தற்போது சென்னை அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. எட்டாம் நூற்றாண்டை சேர்ந்த விக்கரங்கள் என தெரிவித்துள்ளாக கூறப்படுகிறது. மேலும் வாஞ்சியத்தில் அப்பர் அடிகள் இக்கோயிலை வைப்புத் தலமாக வைத்து பாடியுள்ளார். இப்பகுதியில் இருந்து வெளிநாடு வெளி மாநிலங்களில் குடி பெயர்ந்துள்ள பக்தர்கள் முக்கிய விசேஷ தினங்களில் இங்கு வந்து ஈசனை வணங்கி செல்கின்றனர்.*
