Sri Ramasamudram Valeeswarar Temple

Vaaleeswarar Temple is a Shiva temple located in Sri Ramasamudram, Tiruchirappalli district. The temple is spread over an area of ​​1-53 acres. There are inscriptions in the temple dating back to 1050 years.[1] The main deity of the temple is Valeeswarar and the goddess is called Soundaranayaki.

The main deity is a Swayam Linga. It faces east. It is said that he was named Valeeswarar because he was worshipped by Vali in the Ramayana. The pillars in the mandapam of the main deity shrine depict the worship of Vali Linga, as well as images of Vinayagar and Murugan.  The Soundaranayaki Amman Moolavar shrine faces south. There is a tortoise sculpture on a pillar in the Amman shrine.

In the outer courtyard, a Kashi Lingam is installed in the Kanni Moo Ganapati shrine. There is Vinayagar in its mandapam. A Vinayagar statue is also installed in the Dakshanamurthi shrine. To the west of the courtyard are Pancha Bhootha Lingams and in front of them are Saptha Kannis. To the northwest is the Valli Deivanai Arumuga Peruman. There are also Chandikeshwar, Bhairava, Surya and Chandran shrines. To the southeast is the Perumal shrine with the mother on his lap. Near it is the Vahanamandapam and inside it is the Shivalinga and Ambika shrine.

Vali came to Thirumukudalur to install the Lingam he had brought from Kasi. But before that, Agastya had performed puja with a Lingam made of sand. Vali tried to remove the Lingam with his tail but failed.

After that, he placed the Lingam he had brought in the present-day Sri Ramasamudram, Ailur, on the banks of the Kaveri. This temple is now known as the Valeeswarar Temple.

வாலீஸ்வரர் கோயில் என்பது திருச்சிராப்பள்ளி மாவட்டம் ஸ்ரீராமசமுத்திரம் என்ற ஊரில் அமைந்துள்ள சிவாலயமாகும். இச்சிவாலயம் 1-53 ஏக்கர் நிலப்பரப்பளில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இச்சிவாலயத்தில் 1050 வருடத்திற்கும் முற்பட்ட கல்வெட்டுகள் உள்ளன. இச்சிவாலயத்தின் மூலவர் வாலீஸ்வரர் என்றும், அம்பிகை சௌந்தரநாயகி என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகின்றனர்.

மூலவரான வாலீஸ்வரர் சுயம்பு லிங்கமாவார். இவர் கிழக்கு நோக்கி இருக்கிறார். இவரை இராமாயண வாலீ வழிபட்டமையால் வாலீஸ்வரர் என்று பெயர் பெற்றமையாக கூறப்படுகிறது. மூலவர் சந்நிதியின் மண்டபத்தில் உள்ள தூண்களில் வாலீ லிங்கத்தினை வழிபடுவதும், விநாயகர், முருகன் உருவங்களும் பொறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. சௌந்தரநாயகி அம்மன் மூலவர் சந்நிதி தெற்கு நோக்கியுள்ளது. அம்மன் சந்நிதியில் ஒரு தூணில் ஆமைச் சிற்பம் உள்ளது.

வெளி பிரகாரத்தில் கன்னி மூலை கணபதியின் சந்நிதியில் காசி லிங்கம் பிரதிஸ்டை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதன் மண்டபத்தில் விநாயகர் உள்ளார். தட்சணாமூர்த்தியின் சந்நிதியிலும் ஒரு விநாயகர் சிலை பிரதிஸ்டை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. பிரகாரத்தின் மேற்கில் பஞ்ச பூத லிங்கங்களும், அவர்களுக்கு முன்பு சப்த கன்னிகளும் உள்ளனர். வட மேற்கில் வள்ளி தெய்வானை ஆறுமுக பெருமான் உள்ளார். சண்டிகேசுவரர், பைரவர், சூரியன் மற்றும் சந்திரன் சந்நிதிகளும் உள்ளது. தென் கிழக்கில் தாயாரை மடியில் வைத்தவாறு பெருமாள் சந்நிதி அமைந்துள்ளது. அதனருகே வாகனமண்டபமும், அதனுள் சிவலிங்கம், அம்பிகை சன்னதியும் உள்ளன.

வாலி இலிங்கத்தினை எடுத்துச் செல்லுதல்

திருமுக்கூடலூர் எனுமிடத்தில் வாலி காசியிலிருந்து தான் எடுத்துவந்த லிங்கத்தினை பிரதிஸ்டை செய்ய வந்தார். ஆனால் அதற்கு முன்பே அகத்தியர் மணலால் ஆன லிங்கத்தினை வைத்துப் பூசை செய்திருந்தார். அந்த லிங்கத்தினை வாலி தன்னுடைய வாலால் அகற்ற முயன்றும் தோல்வியடைந்தார்.

அதன் பின்பு காவேரி கரையில் இருக்கும் அயிலூர் என்ற தற்போதய சிறீராமசமுத்திரத்தில் தான் எடுத்துவந்த லிங்கத்தினை வைத்துப் பூசித்தார். இந்த தலமே தற்போது வாலீசுவரர் கோயில் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.
