Nil Saraswati Temple, GXR9+CR7, Belwa, Bihar 855102 Katihar Nil Saraswati Temple is located in Belwa, Katihar, Bihar on the border of Bihar and West Bengal, at a distance of 360 Kms from Patna and 70 Kms from Purnia.

It is said that great poet Kalidas attained enlightenment in this village. It is believed that the in-laws of great poet Kalidas was here. After getting displeased with his wife, Kalidas came to this Saraswati place and worshiped. The villagers claim that the great poet Kalidas became famous by going to Ujjain from here. The famous story of Kalidas, in which he becomes thirsty and then an old woman removes his pride, is believed to be from this Belwa village in Katihar, Bihar.
This temple is mentioned in the book Ochaina Shaktipeeth Betwa and Kalidas Upakhan a work of Bengali literateur Banku Bihari Mandal. It is alsomentioned in the Bengali literature that great poet Kalidas had meditated in this temple. idols of Mahakali, Mahagauri and Mahasaraswati are installed in ancient Saraswati temple. .
It is said that the idol of Neel Saraswati made of bright stone centuries old was established here.
