Somanatha emerged from the lotus tree

Devanallur is on the road from Tirunelveli to Kalakadu via Brancheri. The oldest Srikomati Ambal Sametha Srisomanathaswamy temple in this town is located at Pachaiarankarai. Admired as one of the Panchalinga shrines, this Thiruthalam encompasses many glories.

History

About 800 years ago, a king named Veeramarthandan came to this region. Once when he went hunting, he rested in a part of the forest. Then he saw a scene in the distance. A hound was chasing a rabbit. When the rabbit that was running ahead came near the linden tree at a certain place, it suddenly turned around to face the dog, and the dog ran away in fear.

The next day, when he came to hunt in the same way, the hound tried to chase away the rabbit, it came near the lantana tree and stood against it, and the dog ran away in fear. Because of this scene, which became a legend, when the king dug the iland near the tree, he was happy to see a Shiva Lingam there. He built a temple for that Lord on the banks of the green river and named him Somanatha. The image of the Goddess in this Talat is very elaborate, with a gentle smile, a talking jewel, and a life painting written in the heart of the Lord. Ambika has the distinction of fulfilling the wishes of devotees. Devanallur Sri Somanath Temple, Kalakadu Sri Satyavakeeswarar Temple, Singikulam Sri Kailasanathar Temple, Bhatti Sri Kulesekaranath Temple and Padmaneri Sri Nellaiappar Temple are all revered as Pancha Linga shrines worshiped by Ramapiran.

Devotees come here to worship Somanatha, who blesses the east and Gomati Amman, who blesses the south. In this temple, standing in one place, one can visit the Lord and Ambala. It is believed that if Swami-Ambal is worshiped, marriage will take place soon.

இலந்தை மரத்தில் வெளிப்பட்ட சோமநாதர்

தேவநல்லூர் ஆலயத்தில் ஒரே இடத்தில் நின்றவாறு, இறைவனையும், அம்பாளையும் தரிசிக்க முடியும். சுவாமி-அம்பாளுக்கு அர்ச்சனை செய்து வழிபட்டால், விரைவில் திருமணம் நடந்தேறும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை.

தாமிரபரணி ஆறு எந்த அளவுக்கு சிறப்புமிக்கதோ, அதுபோலவே அதன் துணை நதிகளும் சிறப்புபெற்றவை. சித்தாறும், கடனாநதியும், பச்சையாறும் பெருமை பெற்றவை. இவற்றுள் பச்சையாற்றை 'சியாமளா நதி' என்று போற்றி புகழ்கிறார்கள். கங்கையே, சியாமளா நதியாக ஓடிக் கொண்டிருப்பதாக சொல்லப்படுகிறது.

திருநெல்வேலியில் இருந்து பிராஞ்சேரி வழியாக களக்காடு செல்லும் சாலையில் உள்ளது தேவநல்லூர். இவ்வூரில் பழமையான ஸ்ரீகோமதி அம்பாள் சமேத ஸ்ரீசோமநாதசுவாமி திருக்கோவில் பச்சையாற்றங்கரையில் அமைந்துள்ளது. பஞ்சலிங்க தலங்களில் ஒன்றாக போற்றப்படும் இத்திருத்தலம் பல பெருமைகளை உள்ளடக்கியதாக இருக்கிறது.

தலவரலாறு

சுமார் 800 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பு இப்பகுதியை வீரமார்த்தாண்டன் என்ற மன்னன் ஆண்டு வந்தான். அவன் ஒரு முறை வேட்டைக்காக சென்றபோது, காட்டின் ஒரு பகுதியில் சற்று இளைப்பாறினான். அப்போது அவன் தூரத்தில் ஒரு காட்சியைக் கண்டான். ஒரு வேட்டை நாய், முயலை துரத்திக் கொண்டிருந்தது. முன்னால் ஓடிக் கொண்டிருந்த முயல் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட இடத்தில் உள்ள இலந்தை மரத்தின் அருகே வந்ததும், திடீரென திரும்பி நாயை பார்த்து எதிர்த்து நிற்க, நாய் பயந்து ஓடிவிட்டது.

மறுநாளும் இதே போல் வேட்டைக்கு வந்த இடத்தில், வேட்டை நாய் முயலை விரட்ட, அது இலந்தை மரத்தின் அருகே வந்து எதிர்த்து நிற்க, நாய் பயந்து ஓடியது. தொடர்கதையாகிப் போன இந்தக் காட்சியால் மன்னன் அந்த இலந்தை மரத்தின் அருகே தோண்டியபோது, அங்கு சிவலிங்கம் ஒன்று இருப்பதைக் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தான். அந்த இறைவனுக்கு பச்சை ஆற்றின் கரையில் ஒரு கோவிலைக் கட்டி, அவருக்கு சோமநாதர் என்று பெயரிட்டு வழிபட்டான். இத்தலத்து இறைவியின் திருவுருவம் மிகவும் கலைநுணுக்கத்தோடும், மந்தகாசப் புன்னகையுடனும், பேசும் பொற்சித்திரமாகவும், இறைவனின் உள்ளத்திலே எழுதி வைத்திருக்கும் உயிர் ஓவியமாகவும் உள்ளது. பக்தர்களின் வேண்டுதல்களை நிறைவேற்றுவதில் அம்பிகைக்குத் தனிச்சிறப்பு உண்டு. தேவநல்லூர் ஸ்ரீசோமநாதர் திருக்கோவில், களக்காடு ஸ்ரீ சத்யவாகீஸ்வரர் திருக்கோவில், சிங்கிகுளம் ஸ்ரீ கைலாசநாதர் திருக்கோவில், பத்தை ஸ்ரீ குலேசேகரநாதர் திருக்கோவில் மற்றும் பத்மனேரி ஸ்ரீ நெல்லையப்பர் திருக்கோவில் ஆகிய ஐந்து ஆலயங்களும், ராமபிரானால் வழிபடப்பட்ட பஞ்ச லிங்கத் திருத்தலங்களாக போற்றப்படுகின்றன.

களத்திரதோஷம் நீங்க பக்தர்கள் இங்குவந்து கிழக்குநோக்கி அருள்பாலிக்கும் சோமநாதரையும், தெற்குநோக்கி அருள்பாலிக்கும் கோமதி அம்மனையும் வழிபடுகின்றனர். இந்த ஆலயத்தில் ஒரே இடத்தில் நின்றவாறு, இறைவனையும், அம்பாளையும் தரிசிக்க முடியும். சுவாமி-அம்பாளுக்கு அர்ச்சனை செய்து வழிபட்டால், விரைவில் திருமணம் நடந்தேறும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை.

திருநெல்வேலியில் இருந்து சேரன்மகாதேவி வழியாக பாபநாசம் செல்லும் சாலையில், 15 கிலோமீட்டர் தூரத்தில் பிராஞ்சேரி உள்ளது. இங்கிருந்து களக்காடு பிரியும் சாலையில் 15 கிலோமீட்டர் தூரம் சென்றால் தேவநல்லூரை அடையலாம்.
