Thanjavur District, Thiruvaiyaru Circle, Rajendram Shivan Temple

 This Shiva temple is on the north bank of Vettar if you enter the town of Manakarambai at a distance of six km from Tiruvaiyat towards Tanjore and take a small dirt road to the south of it for half a km.  Though called as Ammanpet, this town also has a name as Rajendram.

 Only the Lord's sanctum sanctorum and the corridor on the east side are built of black stone, while the vimana is beautifully designed with brick.  At the end of the corridor is the sanctum sanctorum of Ambika, which is entirely of brick construction.  In front of the sanctum sanctorum is a recent concrete construction mandapam and before that there is a small Nandi mandapam which houses Nandi and a sacrificial pedestal +(Bali peedam) Karuvrai Kotam has only Tenmugan in the south and Durgai in the north.  Other floors remain vacant.

 Public Mutheeswaramudayar Temple in Vridharajabhayangara Chaturveda Mangalam, Rajendra Chola, Nallur, Thirunamathukkhani, the lands of Thirunamathukkhani were not able to provide the rice etc.  Due to the ban on temple worship, this inscription contains the message that the village councilors gave Arima Arikani land as Thirunamathukani to worship in this temple again.  It is in the West Kumuda list of the Shivanji sanctum sanctorum.  Similarly, there is an inscription of Pandya first Maravarma Kulasekara Devar in the southern Pattikai, which says that because the worship stopped, a land of half a square meter of land was given as a gift by the people of this town.  The period may be 13th century.

 It seems that the temple is not properly maintained and only one-time puja is going on.  I think only monthly specials poojas happen.

 The miracle of a thousand years ago is still facing the same problem it faced then.  Temple.  Lack of proper puja due to insufficient income.  On that day, the kings settled the problem by giving a grant and made it possible for the worship to be conducted without delay.  This is not resolved unless we stand up for ourselves today.  Adequate publicity and regular worship should be assisted by the nearby cultivator groups.

திருவையாற்றில் இருந்து ஆறு கிமி தூரம் தஞ்சையை நோக்கி வரும்போது உள்ள மணக்கரம்பை ஊரில் புகுந்து அதன் தெற்கில் உள்ள சிறிய மண் சாலை வழி அரை கிமி தூரம் சென்றால் வெட்டாறு வடகரையில் உள்ளது இந்த சிவன் கோயில். அம்மன்பேட்டை என அழைக்கப்பட்டாலும் இவ்வூருக்கு ராஜேந்திரம் என ஒரு பெயரும் உள்ளது. 

கிழக்கு நோக்கியது இறைவன் கருவறை மற்றும் இடைநாழி மட்டும் கருங்கல் கொண்டு கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது, விமானம் செங்கல் கொண்டு அழகுடன் வடிவமைக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளது. இடைநாழி முடியும் இடத்தில அம்பிகையின் கருவறை சேர்கிறது, இது முற்றிலும் செங்கல் கட்டுமானமாகவே உள்ளது. இறைவன் கருவறை முன்னம் ஒரு சமீபகால கான்கிரீட் கட்டுமான மண்டபம் உள்ளது, அதற்கும் முன்னர் ஒரு சிறிய நந்தி மண்டபம் உள்ளது அதில் நந்தியும் ஒரு பலி பீடமும் உள்ளது. கருவறை கோட்டங்களில் தென்முகன் மற்றும் வடக்கில் துர்க்கை மட்டுமே உள்ளனர். பிற மாடங்கள் காலியாகவே உள்ளன. 

விருதராஜபயங்கர சதுர்வேத மங்கலத்தில்  உள்ள ராஜேந்திர சோழ நல்லூரில் உள்ள பொது முத்தீஸ்வரமுடையார் கோயில் திருநாமத்துக்காணியான நிலங்கள் பயிர் விளைச்சலின்றி போனமையால் அதற்க்கான நெல் முதலானவற்றை கொடுக்க இயலாமல் இக்கோயில் சிவபிராமணன் ஊரை விட்டு போய்விட. கோயில் வழிபாட்டில் தடை ஏற்பட்டதால், மீண்டும் இக்கோயிலில் வழிபாடு நடத்த திருநாமத்துகாணியாக அரைமா அரைக்காணி நிலத்தை அவ்வூர் சபையார் இறையிலியாக கொடுத்த செய்தி இக்கல்வெட்டில் உள்ளது. இது சிவன்கோயில் கருவறை மேற்கு குமுத பட்டியலில் உள்ளது. இதே போல் தெற்கு பட்டிகையில் பாண்டியர் முதலாம் மாறவர்ம குலசேகர தேவர் கல்வெட்டு ஒன்று பூஜை நின்றுபோனதால் திருநாமத்துக்காணியாக அரை மா காணிக்கீழ் நாலுமா நிலம் இவ்வூர் சபையாரால் இறையிலியாக  கொடுக்கப்பட்ட செய்தி உள்ளது இதன் மூலம் இக்கோயில் சோழர் காலத்தில் கட்டப்பட்டு  பின்னர் பாண்டியர் காலத்தில் இறையிலி நிலம் பூஜைக்காக கொடுக்கப்பட்டமை அறியவருகிறது. காலம் 13 நூற்றாண்டு  எனலாம்.

கோயில் சரியான பராமரிப்பு இல்லை, ஒருகால பூஜை மட்டுமே நடக்கின்றது எனலாம். மாதாந்திர பட்ச, விசேஷங்கள் மட்டுமே நடக்கின்றன என நினைக்கிறேன். 

ஆயிரம் ஆண்டுகள் கடந்த அற்புதம், அன்று சந்தித்த அதே பிரச்னையை இன்றும் சந்திக்கிறது. கோயில். போதிய வருமானமில்லாததால் சரியான பூசகர் இல்லை.  அன்று மன்னர்கள் மானியம் கொடுத்து பிரச்னையை தீர்த்து வழிபாடு தொய்வின்றி நடத்திட வழி செய்தனர். இன்று நமக்கு நாமே என களமிறங்கினால் ஒழிய இதற்க்கு தீர்வில்லை. போதிய விளம்பரமும், தொடர் வழிபாடும் செய்ய அருகாமையில் உள்ள உழவார பணிக்குழுக்கள் உதவிடவேண்டும்.
