 திருநள்ளாறில் இருந்து சனீஸ்வர பகவான் உடைய பார்வை இங்கு படுவதாக ஐதீகம்.இக்கோவிலில் தென் புறத்தில் எமதர்ம ராஜனும், வடப்புறத்தில் சனி பகவானும் அமைந் திருப்பது மற்ற எந்த ஒரு கோவிலிலும் இல்லாத சிறப்பு. இருவரும் ஒருங்கே அவதரித்த தலம் என்பதால், இருவரையும் ஒரே இடத்தில் காண்பது கிடைப்ப தற்கரிய காட்சி.இரு சகோதரர் களும் ஒருங்கே நின்று வருகின்ற பக்தர்களுக்கு வேண்டிய வரத் தினையும், கிரகங்களால் ஏற்படும் தோஷங் களையும், மரண பயத்தையும் நீக்கி அருள் கிறார்கள். உலகத்தின் நீதிபதி சனீஸ்வர பகவானும் தர்மத்தின் ராஜாவான எமதர்மராஜாவின் பிறந்த தலம் இந்த திருக் கொடியலூர்.

 சுவாமி யினுடைய வலதுபுறம் சனீஸ்வர பகவானும், இடது புறத்தில் எமதர்ம ராஜனும் காட்சியளிக் கின்றனர். புத்திர பாக்கியம் வேண்டு பவர்கள், பிறந்த சிறு குழந்தைக் நீண்ட ஆயுள் வேண்டி இந்த தளத்தில் வழிபட்டால் சனீஸ்வர பகவான் அருள்பாலிக் கிறார் என்று ஒரு ஐதீகம்.  இந்த தலத்தில் பரிவார தேவதை களாக விளங்கும் யம தர்மனையும், சனி பகவானையும் வழிபட்டால் கால பயமும் சனி தோஷ துன்பங்களும் நீங்கி விடுவதாக ஐதீகம். ஒருமுறை இந்திரனைப் பீடித்த சனிபகவான் இங்கு வந்து ஒளிந்திருந்ததாகவும் ஈஸ்வர கிருபையால் அவன் தோஷம் விலகிய தாகவும் தலவரலாறு கூறுகிறது. ஒருவருக்கு சனி தோஷம் பிடித்தாலும், எமன் பிடிக்க வந்தாலும் அது வாழ்வில் கஷ்டமான காலம்தான்.

 ஆனால் இத்தலத்தில் பிறந்த சனீஸ்வர பகவானும் தர்மத்தின் ராஜாவான எமதர்ம ராஜாவும் குழந்தையாய், அனை வருக்கும் அருள்தரும் வல்லுநராய், பக்தர்கள் கேட்ட வரத்தைத் தருபவர் களாகவே விளங்கு கிறார்கள். ஆலய அமைப்பு:- ஆலயத்தின் சிறிய நுழைவு வாசலைக் கடந்து உள்ளே சென்றால் நந்திதேவர் அருள்கிறார். இறைவனுக்கு இடதுபுறத்தில் எமதர்மனும், வலது புறம் சனீஸ்வரனும் உள்ளனர்.

 கோவிலை சுற்றி வந்தால் விநாயகர், பாலசுப்பிர மணியர், விஜயலட்சுமி, சண்டீ கேஸ்வர், நவக் கிரகங்கள், பைரவர் ஆகியோரை தரிசிக்கலாம். கருவறையில் அகத்தீஸ்வரர்,லிங்கத் திருமேனியில் அருள் பாலிக்கிறார். அருகில் தெற்கு நோக்கியபடி ஆனந்தவல்லி அன்னை, ஆனந்த பரவசத்துடன் காட்சி தருகிறாள்.

 மக்களின் துன்பத்தினை அகற்றி அனை வருக்கும் மகிழ்ச்சியை தருபவள் இந்த அன்னை. எனவே அன்னையின் கருணையை தேடி வரும் பக்தர்கள் ஏராளம். இந்தக் கோவிலில் அனைத்து பூஜைகளும் சிறப்பாக நடைபெற்று வருகிறது.

 வியாழக் கிழமை தோறும் எம தர்மனுக்கும், சனிக்கிழமை தோறும் சனீஸ் வரருக்கும் சிறப்பு வழிபாடு செய்யப் படுகிறது. தேய்பிறை அஷ்டமி, பிரதோஷம் உள்பட அனைத்து நிகழ்வுகளும் இங்கு நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன.

இங்குள்ள எமதர்மன், சனீஸ்வரன், பைரவர் ஆகியோருக்கு அபிஷேகம் செய்து வழிபட்டால், இழந்த பொருட் களையும், இன்பத்தையும் திரும்ப பெறலாம் என்பது நம்பிக்கை. ஏழரைச் சனியின் பாதிப்பால் ஏற்படும் சகல தடைகளையும் இத்தலம் களைகிறது. எனவே இங்கு வந்து இறை வனுக்கும், இறைவிக்கும் அபிஷேகம், ஆராதனை செய்தால் அனைத்து பிரச்சினை களும் நீங்கு கிறது.

இத்தல இறைவனை வேண்டி உஷாதேவியும் சாயாதேவியும் புத்திரபேறு பெற்ற காரணத்தால், இத்தலம் குழந்தைப் பேறு வழங்கும் சிறப்பு தலமாகவும் கருதப் படுகிறது. 

இந்த ஆலயத்திற்கு வந்து எள்ளு தீபம், நல்லெண்ணெய் விளக் கேற்றினால் அனைத்து தோஷங்களும் அகலும்.
