Temple info -2403 Maheshwar Temple, Odisha. மேகேஷ்வர் கோயில், ஒதிஷா

Temple info -2403 கோயில் தகவல் -2403  Megheswar Temple – Leap in the Odhisan Temple  The grandeur of the Odishan architecture reached its zenith with the Meghesvara Temple which is one among the first nava-ratha plan temples in Odisha. As the architects were experimenting to move from sapta-ratha plan to nava-ratha, therefore this did not result in a perfect model rather a contracted one. In this contracted model, the pagas are of varying width resulting in a non-symmetrical appearance. Pabhaga continues to have five moulding pattern, carved with different designs. Jangha is divided into two equal storeys separated by a madhya-bandhana consisted of three mouldings. All the pagas follow the two-storey pattern except the raha-paga which is built in a single storey. Lower storey is decorated with vajra-mundis while upper storey has pidha-mundis. In its pristine time, the temple would have boasted of its many exquisite images, only few now remains in situ in different conditions o...

Temple info -2401 கோயில் தகவல் -2401  Tradition Kept Alive At Madheswaran Temple On Thadagam Road Indians have been grazers and farmers from time immemorial. The people of the Kongu region specialized in cattle rearing. The herders led a nomadic life. They lived in settlements called ‘Pattis’ along with their cattle. Indian people lived in villages, city clusters, in the forests and also as nomadic cattle grazers. It was a diverse and complete country. The wealth of a person was measured based on the heads of cattle owned by him or her. Ancient epics like Mahabharata talk about the cattle wealth of the land and the stories associated with the same. The lands of the Kongu country are little hardy and therefore one had to toil a bit more in order to get the desired results. Therefore the farmers reared cattle in order to supplement their income. The black cotton soil, red soil and the soil which nurtured forests were found side by side in the Coimbatore region. No wonder the soil div...
