Shri Shishileshwara Temple,Belthangadi Tq

Shishila is a small village about 32kms from Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district. It has a beautiful Shiva Temple. It is believed that the idol, in the form of a Linga, surfaced on its own and was never established by anyone (Udbhava Linga). The temple is on the banks of the river Kapila (a small river which later merges with Netravati).

This place is also referred as Matsya Theertha. The Mahashir (in Tulu ‘Peruvelu’) fish is found in huge numbers in the Kapila river.

The fish in the Kapila River at Shishila are believed to be sacred and Naivedyam is offered to them after offering daily pujas. It is also believed that one can get rid of all types of skin disease after worshipping at Shishileshwara temple and feeding the fish in Kapila River. Fishing is restricted in Kapila River in and around 2 kilometers from Shishileshwara temple.

The other attractions of this place are two rocks, ‘Huli Kallu’ (rock named after tiger), and ‘Dana Kallu’ (rock named after cow). It is believed that, a tiger and a cow reached the river and tiger chased the cow. To avoid violence, Shishileshwara converted tiger and cow into rocks. These rocks are also worshipped during the annual festival.

The annual festival at Shishila is held at the end of May and celebrated for 9 days with unique feature in each day.

The main deity here is Sri Shishileshwara. Along with this, idols of Sri Durga and Mahaganapati are also present.

The main bhootas in this temple are Pili Chamundi, Rakteshwari and Rudrandi.

How to get there: From Dharmasthala, take the road towards Kokkada and travel 16kms. On the Kokkada-Shibaje road, turn towards Shibaje and travel a further 16kms to reach Shishila.

கர்நாடக ஷிஷிலா அருள்மிகு ஶ்ரீ ஷிஷிலேஷ்வரா கோயில்

இத்திருக் கோயில் கர்நாடக மாநிலம் தர்மஸ்தலா அருகே 31 கி.மீ.தூரத்தில் உள்ளது.  மங்களூர் 110   கி.மீ. சுப்ரமண்யா  54   கி.மீ. பங்களூரு 286 கி.மீ. தூரத்தில் ஷிஷிலா உள்ளது. 

அழகிய மலைகள் சூழ்ந்த இயற்கையான சூழ்நிலையில் ஓடும் நதி நீருடன்  உள்ள இடத்தில் இக்கோயில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. கோயில் 800 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேல் பழமையானது. மூலவர் சிவபெருமான்(ஷிஷிலேஷ்வரா) லிங்க வடிவில் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார்.  அருகில் உள்ள குமரகிரி மலையில் உள்ள கோயிலுக்கு அபிஷேக நீரை அர்ச்சகர் கபிலா எனும் நதியிலிருந்து எடுத்துச் செல்லும் போது தவறி விழுந்தவர் கடவுளை வேண்டும்போது தரிசனம் தந்தார். தினமும்  தரிசனம் செய்யும் இடத்தில் தற்போது கோயில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இன்றும் இந்த இடத்தில் ஶ்ரீ ஷீலா என்ற கல் காணலாம். 

கபில ரிஷியின் பெயரால் கபிலா நதி உருவாகியது. புனிதமான இந்த நதியில் மீன்கள் எந்த அச்சமும் இல்லாமல் சுதந்திரமாக உள்ளது. எனவே வரும் யாத்ரீகர்கள் இங்கு உள்ள அம்மனுக்கு பூஜை செய்த பின் பிரசாதங்களை மீனுக்கு அளிக்கிறார்கள். இந்த நதிநீர் அபிஷேகத்திற்கு பயன்படுத்துவதால் மத்ஸ்ய தீர்த்தம் என அழைக்கப்படுகிறது.

கபிலா நதியில் உள்ள மீன்களுக்கு உணவளித்தால் அனைத்து வகையான தோல் நோய்களிலிருந்தும் விடுபட முடியும் என்பதும் நம்பிக்கை.

இந்த நதி நீரை அருந்த ஒரு புலியும், ஒரு பசுவும் வரும் போது புலி பசுவை தாக்க முயன்றதால் சிவபெருமான் இரண்டையும் பாறைகளாக மாற்றியதாக வரலாறு.இன்றும் அந்த கற்களை காணலாம்.  விழாவின் போது விசேஷமாக வழிபடுகிறார்கள். 

அக்டோபர் முதல் மே மாதம் முடிய  பக்தர்கள் அதிக அளவில் திரள்வார்கள். ஏராளமான பக்தர்கள் தங்கள் விருப்பங்களை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காக காணிக்கையுடன் இங்கு வருகிறார்கள். அவர்கள் ஆற்றில் மீன்களைப் பார்த்து

கருவறையில், பிரதான கடவுளின் இடது மற்றும் வலது பக்கங்களில் ஸ்ரீ கணபதி, துர்காபரமேஸ்வரி மற்றும் குமாரதெய்வ, கோடாமணித்தயா, ராஜன் தெய்வம், கிளாமரித்தையா, புஞ்சர்லி, பாசதிநாயகா, குலிகா முதலிய தெய்வங்களின் சிலைகள் உள்ளன.

ஷிஷிலேஷ்வராவில் வசதியான தங்கும் வசதிகள் இல்லை. ஆனால் சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் தர்மஸ்தலாவில் அறைகளை முன்பதிவு செய்யலாம்.

தர்மஸ்தலாவிற்கு வரும் பக்தர்கள் தர்மஸ்தலாவிலிருந்து, கொக்கடாவை நோக்கிச் செல்லும் சாலையில் 16 கி.மீ. கொக்கடா-ஷிபாஜே சாலையில், ஷிபாஜே நோக்கி திரும்பி, மேலும் 16 கிமீ பயணித்து ஷிஷிலாவை அடையலாம்.
